Welcome to the Bangla CD Covers blog!

My photo
Shohail Ibne Mahbub (XTR)
I'm an avid Bangla music album collector in this hobby since 2012. Having grown up in the "Underground" era of Bangla band music, I took the initiative to archive and upload album artworks. Till now, I've been recognised and acknowledged by various artists, bands, streaming and label companies for my work on Bangla CD Covers. There's a high chance most artwork you see floating around the internet are scanned by me!

Ohom by The Watson Brothers

The Watson Brothers hailed from the underground scene when members of Cryptic Fate and The Attempted Band (TAB) got together while performing in various concerts. Although both bands played different genres of music, the members took up a different music style by compromising and getting a win-win situation. It worked, rather amazingly. And soon The Watson Brothers gained a huge reputation among the UG scene. The Watson Brothers, consisting of Shakib, Imran, Farhan and the witty Arafat Kazi, released their only release so far "Ohom" in 2003, under the label of G-Series. Since then, the band is in hiatus as the CF members have moved on to their band, and Arafat Kazi has stayed in the US. The hit song, "Akash" was taken up as the theme of telecom company GrameenPhone's 'Djuice' campaign and was featured (albeit, with different vocals) in Amitabh Reza's TVCs for 'Djuice'. Boka Manushta (Sumon O Aurthohin 2) by Sumon

Sumon revives the name 'Sumon O Aurthohin' for his 4th solo project. This time again collaborating with many musicians of that time (many of whom are from the UG scene). Dubbed, Boka Manushta, this is a very diverse release from Bassbaba - having Pop, Rock, Metal and what not. It was released in 2007 from G-Series. Megher Deshe (A Tribute to John Denver) by Sumon

'Megher Deshe' is Sumon's 3rd solo work, perhaps his most ambitious one. It is a tribute to John Denver. Sumon describes in the album sleeves about how he came to know about Denver, and how his songs inspired him to do a cover in Bangla. It seemed like a wild idea, but it worked. And soon with the help of 'Khaled Bhai' of G-Series and Iqbal Asif Jewel, he released it in 2005. He also collaborated with Nazia and Elita (of Raaga) for the female vocals. Shopnogulo Tomar Moto by Sumon

Sumon's 2nd solo album goes by the name 'Shopnogulo Tomar Moto'. This album consists mostly of mellow pop-esque songs that Sumon is known famously for. Released in 2001, this album is also a pinnacle in Sumon's solo career. He dedicates this to 'Rupok', the lyricist, who passed away untimely. 'Rupok' was also a close friend and lyricist of Artcell. Sumon O Aurthohin by Sumon

Khaled 'Bassbaba' Sumon, is a legendary figure in Bangla music scene. Not only as a bassist, he's also famous for being a very good album co-ordinator. His 'Agontuk' series proves that. However, before this, when he was the bassist for Warfaze, he released his first solo album 'Sumon O Aurthohin' in 1997. It featured 18 musicians of 8 heavyweight bands of that time. In the track 'Aurthohin' (which would later serve as a name for his own band) he featured the then vocalist of Warfaze, Sunjoy and 8 of the most prominent guitarists who played a staggering collection of 27 different solos. This was a big feat for Sumon, and from there onwards, he has made a great contribution to the Bangla music scene. [click on the images to view larger sizes]  Track List 01. Tomar Jonno Noy 02.
