Welcome to the Bangla CD Covers blog!

My photo
Shohail Ibne Mahbub (XTR)
I'm an avid Bangla music album collector in this hobby since 2012. Having grown up in the "Underground" era of Bangla band music, I took the initiative to archive and upload album artworks. Till now, I've been recognised and acknowledged by various artists, bands, streaming and label companies for my work on Bangla CD Covers. There's a high chance most artwork you see floating around the internet are scanned by me!

Neon Aloy Shagotom [Band Mixed Album]

"Neon Aloy Shagotom" is a band mixed album coordinated by Ziaur Rahman Zia (of Shironamhin fame) released in 2007 from G-Series in paperback format. 13 bands ( Karnishey Magpie, Meghdol, Striking, D Minor, Shohortoli, Ajob, Dhrubo, Road House, Shorboda, B'Borton, Kanak O Kartrik, Shohor, Shironamhin ) participated in this unique project. The theme behind this album lines in the genre of the participating bands, mainly urban psychedelic and theatrical rock. The struggles of living in a big city like Dhaka, coupled with the constant need to better themselves is what drives these bands. Moreover, the project aimed to give a different flavour and presentation of "fabric and texture" of music compared to the popular hard rock and heavy metal infused rock music scene of the 2000s with an emphasis on Lyrics. Cover photograph of the album, that showed the homeless people living in Dhaka, was by "Foring ". While the rest of the photographs were taken by Zia...

Kolponar Baire by Stoic Bliss

"Kolponar Baire" is the sophomore album by the pioneers of Bangla Hip-Hop and Rap music, Stoic Bliss . After cementing their legacy as the talk of the town and having well over 250,000 copies of their first album sold, the band hit the studios and came up with this album in mid 2007. G-Series released Kolponar Baire ("Beyond Imagination") in both Paperback and Cassette formats. Following the establishment of popularity of Hip Hop music in the Bangladeshi music scene through which Stoic Bliss is solely responsible for giving other Hip Hop acts and bands the platform, the band intentionally made their sophomore album a bit different, with 4 more matured Pop numbers and overall lyrics keeping the quintessential Stoic Bliss flavour. Members Kazi and Ac1D made a comeback, as did Rajib Rahman ( Double R ) and Mana . Older members (namely B1shop , RuL , Fly , TiZZy , Xtro , New and Fuhad/AQ's finest ) were given credit and thank yous for taking part in the first...

Ekhon Ami by Sumon

"Ekhon Ami" is the 5th solo album by famous Bangladeshi artist Sumon , in which he collaborated with Anila Naz Chowdhury and Fuad Al-Muqtadir (hence the name, "Fuad feat. Sumon and Anila - Ekhon Ami" ). It was released in December 2007 from Agniveena (sister concern of G-Series). Previously in February 2007, Sumon had released his mega solo album "Boka Manushta (Sumon O Aurthohin 2)". Ekhon Ami featured more Latin, Jazz, Blues and Pop influences with remakes of his famous songs like "Shopnogulo Tomar Moto" (title track of his 2nd solo album released in 2001) and "Tomar Jonno" (from his 3rd solo album, Megher Deshe: A Tribute to John Denver , released in 2005, which in turn was a remake of John Denver's Annie's Song). The album also extensively featured guest artists like Topu (Yaatri) , Maher Khan (Nemesis) , Hamin Ahmed (Miles) , Andrew Morris (Arnob & Friends) , Upol , Johan (Subconscious) , Faisal (Metal Maze) , Sel...

Jhalmuri 1 & 2 [Mixed Albums]

"Jhalmuri 1 & 2" are a mixed-artists dual-album singer/songwriter project of popular Bangladeshi fusion artist, Shayan Chowdhury Arnob . They were released in 2007 from Bengal Music Company (BMC) Ltd. The albums featured up and coming singer/songwriters as well as many of Arnob's friends. Jhalmuri 1 featured Punam (from Prayer Hall , another project of Arnob), Tahmid , Abida , Gourob , Armeen Musa , Nabila , Shawjeeb , Sahana Bajpaie , Bappa Mazumder . While Jhalmuri 2 featured Sovvota , Shuvo , Laura , Rupom , Srabonti , Syed Wakil Ahmed , Habib Wahid , Nancy and Arnob .   The overall song arrangements were done by Arnob, but the songs were indeed written by the singers. The reasoning behind such an album, as per the album sleeves is that, making songs had become extremely mechanical and monotonous. It was like as if somebody came up with a lyrics, another with the tune, and finally after vocals had given by yet another person, the people behind the song itsel...
